To view or not to view
I chose to view Liam's body twice.
The day after he died I decided to walk his remains through the process as much as I could bare.
I went to the city morgue to identify the body and see for myself the damage caused and how he died. It gave me a chance to really experience the rawness of losing my son.
The second time it was to say goodbye to his earthly vessel. Saying goodbye to the familiar hands and body physique and the face. The long lashes and the beautiful lips.
I got a chance to kiss his cheek and hold his hand, praying for him and for us. It gave me a chance to realise that his soul and personality are not in this world any longer.
It depends on your beliefs and why you have the need to view or not to view. I just did not want to regret years later that i did not say goodbye.
