Another two firsts

On Saturday we had our Protea team's annual year kick-off braai without you. I dreaded it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had a wonderful day with our scout team and their parents having a braai at our house. I even managed to lend someone one of Liam's favourite jackets and I did not die. It hurt, but I did not collapse and die from it.

The whole braai and the kids swimming I missed that one distinct voice, but it was a miss with fondness, Our scout team people are my family and they have and are still carrying us through our journey. I am just sorry that I was so busy chatting that I did not get a chance to take photos. But now the memories are more important. Liam's picture and dried Proteas were part of the décor. He will always be part of the team.

I am glad we had the braai. We created new memories and grounded relationships for years to come. These people are part of my family and I trust and rely heavily on them. They keep me sane and grounded. They loved my son!

Today was our first team class without Liam. We welcomed two new Proteas to the team and I feel privileged to welcome them to our team in their last year of primary school. I wish them luck and I wish they have the most fun they can imagine. We had a nice chat on personality and the uniqueness with which God has thought of us and living our life purpose. It was a bittersweet class. But I missed my favourite face in the class. Luckily I am blessed that my grade 12 son Raine is willing to stand in as controller and co-leader in Chris's absence.

Tomorrow is Tuesday and every Tuesday I have a difficult day. I wonder what tomorrow will bring...
